Cisco
Cisco is the big dog of firewall security. They make high end systems that function very well. They are known for working with large enterprise systems. They offer firewalls, intrusion detection, and virtual private network hardware.
NetGear
Netgear is at the low end of hardware security. Most computer professionals do not recommend it. The main selling point is the low price.
Hotbrick (Soho)
Hotbrick is known for being a pretty good firewall. It is more money than Netgear, but still priced pretty low for the market. It is a good choice for a home office. They even sell wide enterprise network solutions.
Linksys
Linksys routers are considered by some people as a good hardware firewall. This is really bad information. The Linksys is not a hardware firewall and shouldn’t be used as such.
SonicWall
The SonicWall continues to get good reviews and is used by medium to large scale companies. It is quite a bit more expensive than the lower end firewalls, but still less than Cisco. It is a good piece of equipment for your security arsenal.
