Hand Penetrating Computer for Domain ComputerSecurity.cc

Hardware Firewalls

The hardware firewall is a good step towards security.  The hardware firewall is less likely to get corrupted because hardware chips are specifically designed to be encrypted and away from other computer files.  This fact, alone, makes a large difference.

Each computer has ports; thousands of them.  These are like little holes in your computer security.  Without a good firewall they are basically open.  Someone can come in and take control of your machine remotely.

The key point to a hardware firewall is to close all the ports you are not using.  This makes the hackers job harder because they can’t just attack you anywhere.  They must find more creative ways around the firewall.

Is it Enough

It’s not enough to simply have a hardware firewall.  Hackers see that there is something blocking their entry.  Once they see what is stopping them, they simply do a little research to find out how to get around the firewall.  And, surprisingly, there is enough information out there that any good hacker can go around your firewall.  Hackers can’t fight what they can’t see.  That is the main point to good security; don’t be seen.

You should definitely have a hardware firewall.  Buy something that allows you to see your ports, logs attacks on your computer, and port scanning.  Have a professional set it up.  If you do it alone and are unsure, don’t change the default settings because they are probably better than what you would come up with.
