IPSec – Internet Protocol Security
IPSec is the protocol for encrypting the IP address and keeping it anonymous. IPSec is required for IPv6 and is used to often to help secure IPv4.
The protocol is important when using encrypted tunnels. It keep the IP address anonymous by using an authentication header and an encapsulated security payload. IPSec can be used in tunnel mode (point to point) or transport mode (host to host).
Some operating systems will offer a built in native IPSec.
