John The Ripper
is a full password security auditing program that has the ability to crack passwords quickly. Passwords are much harder to hack if they have the unique characters sucks as !@#@$%^&^$ in the password.
It can take up to a month to crack a good password, but any password can be found.
If the operating system has syskey enabled, then you will need to use pwdump (part of the same program) to defeat syskey.
Other password crackers are made by Elcomsoft and Cracker.
