Hand Penetrating Computer for Domain ComputerSecurity.cc

Proxy Servers

The proxy server is something that helps to hide your IP address.  You will connect securely to a server through a VPN tunnel  or through https.  The server will then telnet through a bunch of other servers.  Your IP address will be assigned a new one.  Each time you go through the server you will be randomly assigned a different IP address.

Why is This Important

Hackers need your IP address to deploy viruses, Trojans, and malware.  Some Trojans are made to simply keep track of a specified IP address.  If you keep the same IP address and go around the internet, it is very easy for someone to keep their eye on you.

Where to Get the Proxy Server

If you have a business account with Qwest or Comcast, you can get a proxy server from them.  Many small ISP’s will also offer a proxy server.  There are many programs available on the internet that will help you create the proxy server.  The important thing is to make sure it is from a trusted source.  Some proxy servers are way for criminals to hide what they are doing.  You don’t want to join something like that.  There is also a mobile proxy server on a USB drive that is called the Ironkey.  It will make your files secure and can also be used to search the internet privately.  Keep in mind, it will only work if you start out with a clean computer and don’t get infected again.  It won’t protect against existing keyloggers and Trojans on your machine.
